The good about video conferencing using applications like Skype and Userplane is that it enables you to perform live interviews which does not allow behind the scenes editing of footage. In cases whereby politicians want to wipe off something potentially detrimental to their public image, eg. George Bush Jr's gaffes, this form of journalistic broadcasting can come in handy.

It is given that on the internet, interactions between people previously unknown to each other in the physical world are de-personalised due to the inability of ensuring a face to face meeting at every point of interaction. Also due to the proliferation of identity creation through the mass availability of representative symbols, the image and the reality of the social actor may greatly vary from one another. Wordpress supports two types of photo galleries. These two are rather popular image hosting applications, namely Coppermine and Gallery. There are not many clear-cut differences between the two, the differences are mainly confined to usability and the preferences of the user. For example, these are customisation options, such as whether the customisation functions all appear in one single page, or whether they are provided on a step by step basis.

by Rachel Chan Two very common blog hosting services are Blogger and Wordpress. In Malaysia especially Blogger, or also known as Blogspot, is a particularly popular service. It is easy to master and use. It has user-friendly options and allows for a newbie to instantly publish. In this way it motivates one who is afraid of technology to blog because it is less intimidating. My first experience with Wordpress, however, somewhat turned my brain to jelly as I found it nearly impossible to master as I was used to using Blogger. |
