Every four years, UN member countries go at the United Nations to have their human rights pledges peer-reviewed by other countries under a process called the Universal Periodic Review or UPR. In the period between two UPR reviews, stakeholders – whether human rights defender, government official or private citizen – may come to to rate how well the government is keeping its promises.
